About Rachel Davies, PT
“From the time I was young, I knew I wanted to work in the medical field.”
While attending MSU and studying Nutrition, I explored several healing professions, but hadn’t found the one for me. After graduating with my Bachelors degree, I returned to my hometown of Traverse City, MI and began working as a PT aide.
It was then that I knew this profession would be my future.
I attended Oakland University’s Physical Therapy program which is known for its strong manual therapy foundation. In 2002, I graduated with my Masters degree in PT. Ironically, I married my husband, Rob, in the same week I graduated. Yes, big changes for me!
I began my first job at Spectrum Health, where I learned a great deal about inpatient therapy. My next job was in a private practice, outpatient PT clinic. I worked there for 9 years and refined my manual skills while taking regular, continuing-education courses to grow my knowledge base and abilities.
I began my journey into a whole new realm when I took my first John Upledger CranioSacral course.
This is what I considered at the time, a “non-traditional”, alternative type of therapy, but soon discovered that it was for me!
Then the John F. Barnes Approach to Myofascial Release Changed My Life, and My Patients’ too!
When I began taking the series of John F. Barnes Myofascial Release courses, they resonated with me at an even deeper level. To me, it is the missing link in traditional physical therapy because it treats the body, mind and spirit as a unit.
I saw my patients healing in fewer treatments and with more ease.
Many that had been told by other medical professionals they could not be helped, now found healing.
Through all of this, I started my own personal healing quest and this is what makes me a compassionate therapist today.
My ultimate goal as a Physical Therapist is to facilitate others on their path to healing and recovery.
This is truly the work I was meant to do!

About Michel Andreasen, OT
“Michel strives to provide authentic therapeutic practices based on principles she has personally experienced and found to be truly powerful and healing.”
Michel’s primary intention as a holistic practitioner is to serve as a guide to support people through their own unique healing process in order to reveal an enhanced connection to the authentic self.
She began her therapy career in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation at an outpatient rehabilitation center. During her own personal wellness journey, she was lead to natural health providers who ignited her passion for holistic health services to treat the entire person- mind, body, and spirit.
The profound healing she experienced was what she had been searching for her entire life.
She began studying, taking courses, and practicing therapeutic yoga and John F. Barnes Myofascial Release in order to expand her own state of health and to eventually offer these services to others.
Michel strives to provide authentic therapeutic practices based on principles she has personally experienced and found to be truly powerful and healing.
In her holistic occupational therapy practice, the gentle hands-on approach of John F. Barnes Myofascial Release is utilized to release restrictions of emotional and physical trauma in order to increase the mind-body connection, decrease pain, improve body alignment and balance, restore function, and increase overall health and wellness.
Michel further offers therapeutic services based on principles of yoga to create a sacred space for the body to heal. Meditation and mindfulness techniques, restorative postures and movement, along with breath and energy work are used to align body, mind, and spirit for optimal whole being wellness.
Michel graduated with a B.S. in Anthropology from Grand Valley State University and a M.S. in Occupational Therapy from Western Michigan University.
